Submission Guidelines Our website generally works with most setups and browsers. However, it has come to our attention that in some cases the submission page does not show up in it's entirety. If you are having this problem, it is because your screen resolution is currently too low to display both the submission boxes and the side bars we use on this site. Luckily, this is a pretty quick fix. Simply follow the link below for instructions about changing your screen resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 or higher.

Laurus publishes only undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. All others are ineligible to submit. |

Laurus' online submission system accepts Rich Text (.rtf), Word (.doc), and Plain Text (.txt) for text submissions. For visual art we accept JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg) and GIF (.gif). All files must be 512KB or smaller. (Visual artists please take note of guideline #4.) |
| |
| 3. |
Prose writers please submit only one story, essay, or chapter per file/upload. Poetry writers may submit up to five poems in a single file. If you choose to do this please use the name of the first poem in the file as the title of the submission. If your work is genre-bending/breaking use your best judgement in naming and dividing submissions so that we know what fragments/vignettes belong together. |
| |
| 4. |
Any submission of visual art should be considered only a preview. If your artwork is selected for publication we will meet with you and do our best to obtain a high quality transfer of your original media (whatever that may be). |
| |
| 5. |
Submit finished work! We provide feedback on a case-by-case basis, but that is not an invitation to submit first drafts. |
| |
| 6. |
By submitting to Laurus you are granting us permission to publish your work in the annual Laurus print magazine, our mini-magazine Laurettes, and on Laurusmagazine.com. Upon publication all rights revert to the author. If a piece that you have submitted to Laurus is accepted for publication elsewhere please notify us immediately so we can remove it from our submissions queue. |

Please, no more than five submissions per author per academic year. |
